OUR DOGS

SIRES (Males)

Howell's Arizona Ammo

Howell's Arizona Ammo came to us from a kennel in Iowa. His mom, Sassy can be seen on the Photo Gallery Page. It's not difficult to see that he is an awesome bird dog. Ammo's dad Beau, who is a NAVHDA Prize I winner, lives in Canada.

Ammo is on track to be the biggest Bourbonnais we have owned. He has a wonderful temperament and pointed the first 2 birds we planted for him. He is showing lots of promise as a first class bird dog.

Pheasant Peak Andy (Brock)

Our first Braque du Bourbonnais and the reason we now breed these amazing dogs. He is a tireless retriever with an uncanny ability to track and pin down a pheasant in the field.

There are many great hunting stories about Brock but our favorite happened on a South Dakota pheasant hunt. A hunting party had shot a pheasant that went down in a marshy area. They were going to let it go when Larry walked up with Brock. They asked if they could use Brock to find the bird. Larry gave him the "fetch" command and in Brock went. They heard him splashing around and out he came, pheasant in mouth. It was awesome!

Cactus Country Andy (Doc)

This amazing puppy from our A litter Andy(Doc) has grown into a fine hunting dog on his own. He possess all of the qualities of his parents and is a joy to watch in the field. In 2006 he will take his place in our breeding program.

Hondo's Bear (Jazz)

Hondo's Bear came with Bailey and we have renamed him Jazz. His grandfather is the incredible Chateaus Fantom Fighter who sired many amazing offspring. We found it fitting to name him Jazz II because he looks just like his Grandfather.

He, too, found and pointed his first birds recently and after the bird had flushed he kept looking for it. Larry picked him up and took him away and he went right back looking for the bird! To say he was birdy is an understatement.

DAMS (Females)

Angie (Mademoiselle Jolee, aka JJ)

Mademoiselle Jolee came from France to join our breeding program in 2005. She was an amazing traveler. She has a very sweet and loving temperament but get out of her way when the hunting pants go on! When hunting in tall grass all of the dogs can be seen, as they run, parting the grass. JJ soars above it like a gazelle.

She has wonderful natural instincts and has become the perfect hunting companion. Thanks to all of those Bourbonnais lovers who helped make the trip a wonderful experience and especially Michael Comte who arranged everything for us.

Hondo's Bailey

Hondo's Bailey is a beautiful fawn that came from Hondo kennel in Michigan. She has beautiful markings and has shown a great deal of promise when pointing her first few birds. She picked up the scent from quite a ways away and followed it until she locked up. She had no prior training other than a little fun retrieving in the back yard. She's a natural.

Cactus Country Cassie

Cassie and Elk Run Nitro were inseparable and our plans were for them to be a breeding pair until we discovered he was sterile. So we decided to go outside our kennel and find the perfect stud for her.

She is from our C litter and the daughter of Emmy and Brock. I have to do a double take sometimes when I look at her because she looks so much like her Mom.

(Cody)

Cody joined our family after a long journey from France. She came over with her brother, Scout. She is our second imported female. She comes from a long line of excellent Braque du Bourbonnais' and has already shown a great deal of natural ability.

She has a wonderful temperament and is a wonderful, loving dog with our grandchildren. Her "hurricane" eye sets her apart as well as her light ticking. She has won our hearts and we are SO very grateful for those special people who made her journey possible.

Cactus Country Darby

Darby is a beautiful fawn from Emmy and Jazz's last litter.

Emmy has produced such great hunters and because she has retired from the breeding program, we knew we wanted to keep one of her pups to continue Emmy's line.

She has incredible natural ability and has found every bird we have planted for her.

Harley

Harley is from the first litter produced by Hondo Kennel in Michigan. She has the sweetest disposition and became a fast favorite with the grandkids.

She found and pointed her first two birds and did NOT want to leave the field. She is a tireless hunter and is everything we are looking for to add to our breeding program.

Thanks Mark and Kerry for loving these dogs as much as we do!

Bh's Lanie (Lanie)

Follows in the footsteps of her mentors, Brock and Emmy.

BH's Lanie has a remarkable ability to find downed birds and finds great pleasure in retrieving. She has developed her own very stylish point and when locked on a bird she won’t move a muscle. Lanie, like her father Jazz, loves to swim and will swim across any pond regardless of size.
