F LITTER

PARENTS : Lanie and Brock
DATE : 5/5/2007

This is a very interesting litter and very different litter for us. First this has been our smallest litter so far, with only 4 puppies from Brock and Lanie. There is one Fawn Female and one Liver Male both with beautiful coloring. The fawn female was born first and weighed almost 13 ozs, the largest pup of any of our litters. It was a difficult delivery for Lanie but once Fawn was born, the other 3 came out fast and furiously!

The other 2 puppies, a liver male and liver female, both had liver spots, but different from what we had ever seen. It almost looked like someone had taken drops of ink and dropped them on these 2 pups, Fleur and Frisco. As they began to develop their color we could see orange markings on bellies, legs and faces. These marking are more indicative of a fawn color dog. I very innocently emailed Michael Comte, the French expert, and asked about a tricolor BdB and he told me there aren't any. After mailing pictures to him, his first impression was that these are tricolor dogs, but we have decided to give it some time and allow their coats to change, if they are going to change. How exciting! We'll post an update on the final outcome.

Males

Cactus Country Fargo(BJ Hunter)

BJ is traveling to California to his new hunting family. He is adventurous and loves to explore. He has beautiful markings and very much resembles his dad, Brock, in looks as well as attitude.

He is the first to make it through an open door and is the leader of the pack. He is very self-assured and has such a great personality. He has had over 300 pics snapped of him and never minds the flash..

Cactus Country Frisco (Watson)

Frisco will be called Watson and is staying right here in Tucson. His terrific family has had the luxury of visiting him every weekend to watch him grow. Watson hates the tile and loves the carpet but anything outside is fair game.

He has lots of energy and loves to play keep away from his brother and sisters. When we took Lanie away from her pups, Watson was the one who discovered mom's bed and everyone followed him. They all sleep there now. Watson is also a leader and is going to be a great bird dog.

Females

Cactus Country Fawn

She is the only fawn in the litter and was huge when she was born. She caused a little trouble for Lanie because she was over 12 ozs and Lanie struggled with her. Once she was born the others came out about 5 minutes apart. Fawn was holding up the parade!

She has let the others catch up to her in weight. Her orange markings are starting to show and she is going to be a gorgeous hunting partner for her new family in Nevada.

Cactus Country Fleur

Fleur will be going to a wonderful home in Canada and is our second international dog. The family has a NAVHDA Natural Ability Prize 1 BdB already, 1 of 3 in North America, so we are expecting great things from Fleur.

She is still very white with very few liver spots so it will be fun to watch her change. She always keeps her nose to the ground and that's a very good sign for a hunting partner.
